RESPECT FOR THE DEAD

my last class for the semester long RA course i have been taking was in the montecito grave yard, it was a pretty cool class and we got explore for a while. 

apparently some contemporary graves look like pyramids, when i die, i just want something simple.

DRIVE SLOW

the driver of this car was driving really slow and i asked if i could take a picture of his car, he was very scary looking and said tersely "you'd better hurry up because i'm headed that way." I had the car focused as he began to pull away, in a hurry, but still driving slow. silly man.

MOUNTAIN DRIVE

matt, andrew's older brother flew in for the weekend to visit, this is his rental car that we took a familiar drive up 154 in.

a pretty tree i snapped a photo of when we stopped to update the gps. andrew noticed a monkey in it.

 this is what the majority of our drive looked like, vineyards and hills.

a waterfall we revisited, this time barely a trickle. 

STATE STREET ECONOMY

sales on state street wooed the boys and i down there. 

borders was closing and we bought a lot of christmas gifts. at least i did, i know i wont be reading half the books i bought.

if anybody does read this, i am sorry for not giving you a way to procrastinate and stay on the computer for another five seconds recently. i've been busy. maybe not, but thats okay.

SLEEPLESS IN SANTA BARBARA

last thursday greg and i stayed up all night talking in my room. it was strange but i thoroughly enjoyed it. here are some photos from our sunrise stroll.

this tree has lots of personality, greg asked it for directions. or maybe the meaning of life.

this photo was taken at the beach house we stayed in over thanksgiving. it was getting dark but i really wanted to take this picture, hand holding didn't quite work but i like it.

i went for a walk in a park, somebody is missing their shoes very much. i went back a few days later, still there. if only they were my size.

juliette has the worlds worst knee and had to go have a MRI for possibly her fifth knee surgery. peter was kind enough to let me take her in his truck. don't worry pete i filled up pepino...

A NIGHT ON THE TOWN

recently there was a christmas parade on state street, tara and i decided to dress like pirates and walk around, we got some strange looks.

TEXTURES OF FAITH

greg and i checked out our lady of mount carmel the other day, we weren't sure if we were allowed to be in there but it's a beautiful church. i have been to the service before, a little dry with a lack of singing, but  great if you are looking for a good message.

right before we left we met the caretaker of the church, quite the amiable individual, his dog was very strange but loved when greg took his picture. 

JAIME NOT JAMIE

my sister jaime graduated last year and has been living at home and teaching fifth grade at chop point school. it was great to see her during this break, she's honestly the cutest little old lady trapped in a 22 year old shell.

GIVING THANKS

i was told not to stand near the train tracks, as a girl was hit by the train recently, but i made out alright.

there was also a dane reynolds sighting as we drove out. if jesus had a little brother who surfed, it would be him, and it wouldn't be blasphemy to refer to him as a god. 

MARSHES & MECHANICS

another fine santa barbara afternoon found greg and myself wandering a drainage canal. here greg looks at the sloppy mess we just came out of.

we walked a full circle around a parking lot with all the santa barbara trollies. we found our way to the entrance and asked a mechanic working there if it would be alright if we took a few photos, he obliged, only to tell us if we wanted to smoke pot back there it would be alright ...silly mechanic.
